Updates

What's happening:
#1: We finally officially got our house.  It took awhile because we had to FedEx the loan documents to Hawaii and a notary had to bring them to Aaron for signing.  Then we had to FedEx them back here and a notary had to bring them to me for signing.  Whew!  It really prolonged the entire process.  If you've ever bought a house, it's really unbelievable how many papers you have to sign.  I'll plant a tree to square myself with the universe.  I snuck a picture, so you could see my stack:
This picture sucks, I'm aware, but I think it's like a thousand pages (at least that's what it seemed like).  I found myself cursing my parents for making my name so damn long.  So, on Thursday we got the house.  We're currently doing minor repairs and we have someone all lined up to move in on January 16.  The best part is we don't start paying the mortgage until March 1, so January and February are free money!

#2:  As far as our trip goes, it's now looking like we will leave mid-February.  Aaron won't get back from Hawaii until around the end of January and then he needs 2 dental procedures and they have to be spaced 2 weeks apart!  It's literally killing me!  BUT, I'm learning to let go and try to go with the flow and be more zen and meditate (NONE of which come naturally to me).  TAD (Travel Agent Deb) is waiting by the phone for a date, so she can buy our plane tickets.

#3:  Major trip stuff on my list:
I need a few more vaccinations, I need to apply for International Health Insurance (I talked to a broker and am thinking about going with a company called Meridian, which is pretty expensive, but has pretty good coverage) and I need to clear stuff out of my parents' house and stuff it in storage.  Other than that, it's all fun stuff like spending as much time with people as possible, shopping and catching up on all my shows.

You know that saying, "Life is what happens while you're making other plans?"  Well, that's the epitome of me right now.  I'm making lots of plans and waiting for the day we take off, but I have to keep reminding myself to stay in the moment because the typical, everyday stuff is what I'll miss when I'm gone.  It's funny how the stuff you miss about a place aren't the historical landmarks and monuments, but the little things like your favorite coffee place or the toothless guy that wanders around town.  I don't currently drink coffee or know a toothless guy, but I'll make it a point to do both on my travels.  I can't wait!
