So I can't blog about what I've really been doing all week (I'll fill you in next week), so I'll talk about what else has been going on.
Kane has been itching pretty regularly no matter what I try, so I decided to try taking him to the vet. Kane doesn't like the vet, so he was pretty bummed to be there:
Can I just say how much I love our vet? They are not only cheaper than any other vet I've ever visited, but also super friendly (I call with a question about once a week) and reasonable (they have given me plenty of money-saving options...what vet does that??). I wish I could give you the name, but I'm so over telling people about places I love and then having them completely overrun (not that I know that many people, but if every one person tells a couple other people then before you know it the whole world knows and it's Hitler's Germany all over again (that only connected in my head)). Just know they're fantastic and if any of them stumble upon this, I love you.
Verdict: Kane has a skin allergy (somewhat common for puppies) and they think it's probably food related. Basically, this sucks for both of us because there's no quick fix, it's all just a guessing game. I had to get a prescription from the vet for special food and a cream for any itchy spots ($28 for a tube the size of my middle finger...I picked that finger for a reason). His food is already grain-free, but I guess dogs can be allergic to anything including chicken and fish, so I have to get a duck and potatoes gourmet fancy food, which I'm sure costs more than any food I have ever eaten (and I've had caviar...DISGUSTING, BTW).
After his torture at the vet (they did put a thermometer up his butt), I felt so bad I took him to the dog park:
Now he's happy! Poor Capone had to stay home, but he stayed nice and cozy:
In other fascinating news, my parents went to look at a house the other day and my dad stole this off the tree in the backyard:
WTF is it?? It looks like a lemon from prehistoric times. We haven't cut it open yet (not sure yet what we're waiting for) but it's gonna be epic! Or we'll be swallowed up and you'll never hear from me again.
The other thing I thought was crazy amazing:
It's a Loch Ness ladle! Say what??! I need one immediately! Nessie and my Mana-tea will be besties!
Lastly, I saw something while at work (fine, I was in bed on Pinterest) that just spoke to my soul:
It just gave me the chills!
I promise next week I'll have more to say! Here's hoping!
P.S. Special shout out to my honey, I'm wearing my "This girl loves her Millwright" sweatshirt just for him (might be corny, but I gotta represent).
P.P.S. I feel bad now, so I'll give you the name of my fantastic vet (I myself found out about them through a friend (thanks, Mike!)). Are...you...ready??? Drdrdrdrdrdrrdrdrdrdrdrddrdr (someone needs to teach me to type a drum-roll, like NOW!) It's Alpine Veterinary Hospital in Clayton. They are the best! I now travel 30 minutes to get there and my parents' house has 3 different vets within 5. That pretty much sums it up.
Whew! Saying nothing really is exhausting! Goodnight!
