Saturday afternoon we had a relaxing few hours by the pool. I got really into my Nelson Mandela biography. Then Aaron BBQ'd some chicken I had been marinating and we had dinner by the pool while it rained. Then Aaron thought swimming in the rain was a grand idea:
I know you can't tell it's raining, but take my word for it. It only rained for about 20 minutes and it wasn't pouring, but still unexpected.
Later that night we decided to paint the town red! We met up with Aaron's Tico friends, Roberto, Jason and Allison. They took us to a local bar kinda far off the beaten path. Aaron was the only white guy for miles and it made me nervous at first because we've never really ventured too far off the tourist trail, but my fears easily subsided because no one seemed to care. I took some incredibly horrible pictures (even for me), so I apologize ahead of time.
Cheers:
The bar we were at was a karaoke bar, playing both American and Tico music:
We stayed a couple hours, then went to a another bar called Jaco Taco:
These pictures are abysmal, I apologize. Not to mention, I forgot to take any more pictures after this. Some night out, huh? Sorry.
Yesterday wasn't much better. We didn't leave the house at all, we ordered pizza and watched old horror movies. I know, LAME! However, tomorrow we're leaving the lazy life behind us for Volcan Poas, a volcano north east of here. Tomorrow we will take a bus to Alajuela (the closest town to Poas) and stay the night. Alajuela also happens to be the town the airport is in. Early in the morning (around 7:30), we'll take a cab to Poas. They open at 8am and there's no better time to see the crater because the clouds and fog tend to roll in around 10am. After that, we might hit the La Paz Waterfall Gardens, which is supposed to have beautiful waterfalls and animal sanctuaries. Then we'll grab a bus home. Short trip, but it'll be interesting to head up north for a change. Aaron's Tico friend, Roberto, and his wife might join us for the trip, which would be fun. I'm off to pack, I'll keep you posted.
