I'm hungover today, so today's blog won't be quite so colorful. We've been trying to enjoy our last days of relaxation before everything gets chaotic, the calm before the storm, if you will. Yesterday we had a pool day (what else is new??). I got in first:
Then Aaron finally joined me:
It was slightly cloudy outside, but still nice and warm:
After fun in the sun, we decided to go into town and have $2 margaritas at Kokomos.
We noshed on patacones (smashed and fried plantains):
They don't really taste like anything. In fact, they really just taste like hard, fried potato pancakes or something. Not my favorite. FYI, that's a cup of beans in the middle. We also got a shrimp po'boy:
This was good, and I'm not just saying that because I had 3 margaritas. Now, most of you have noticed that Aaron is growing a beard. I take full responsibility because he asked me whether or not he should and I said YES! I figured why not? He can't get away with much facial hair when we're home (needs to be clean shaven for work), so this is his only chance to let his hair down, literally:
He's been having some issues with it so far, just trying to figure out how to trim and maintain it, but I really like it. My scruffy man!
We went out with the neighbor that night and when we took a walk on the beach there were small crabs everywhere! I cornered one (they were fast!) and tried to get a picture before it scurried away:
Unfortunately, we also saw a bunch of these:
Here's Aaron and the neighbor strolling along:
We had a little too much fun, so today we slept in and just hung around the apartment. Tomorrow we're going into town and buying a few souvenirs, then heading to UPS to ship a package of stuff home. It won't be cheap, but we can't lug anything else with us. I'll try to take some pictures tomorrow of what we get!
