Last night, we went out bar-hopping one last time. Our neighbors have a car and it was so nice to actually ride in a car for once instead of a cab. I forgot that awesome feeling of convenience and laziness that goes along with having a vehicle. I enjoyed it immensely (now I know how dogs and babies feel being in the car).
We headed to Beatle Bar, which is named after (you guessed it) The Beatles.
I loved how this picture of their bar had a prostitute out front. Subtle, Beatle Bar, really subtle. There actually were quite a few prostitutes there. So, spotting a hooker isn't the most obvious thing in Jaco because everyone dresses like a slut here because it's HOT! You can't help but wear nothing but your bra to the bar because clothing = death! Since hookers aren't wearing giant sandwich boards saying "Come and get it!," the way to spot one is by the company she keeps. If you see a cute, young girl sitting at the bar chatting up a mall Santa, BAM! You got one! Also, if one grabs your boyfriend's ass, BAM! Got another one! Have I mentioned both these scenarios are real and happened last night?
Other than the fact Beatle Bar was ripe with the smell of pervert, we had a good time. It's a cool bar, playing classic rock from the 70's and 80's (weirdly, no Beatles). Aaron played pool:
I just noticed that I accidentally snapped gross mall Santa! The guy with the black shirt (in the center of the picture with the orange writing on it) is the Santa and the girl next to him looked like she could be his granddaughter, but I doubt she was telling him what she wanted for Christmas. Also unsettling, his shirt said "I bleed black and orange," meaning he's from San Francisco. Pervs are all around us, people!
Then we hopped to a rooftop bar, which was empty, but had a sweet view.
We hung out for awhile, but eventually left and walked around (you can pour your bottle of beer into a plastic cup, which all bars provide, and walk around with it on the street like Las Vegas). Then we decided to head home (it was raining) and sit by the pool. It was nice to go out one last time and experience the night life of Jaco, something I know Aaron will miss.
Tonight, for our last meal out, we made dinner reservations at a restaurant called Graffiti. It's supposed to be really nice and delicious, so I'm excited! I'll try to take pictures (what am I saying, of course I'll take pictures) and I'll let you know how it goes.
UPDATE:
Graffiti was definitely above average, but not fantastic (especially for the price). The decor was decent looking (went with the theme):
There were lots of interesting paintings and graffiti art. The thing that was off-putting was this weird, strong perfume smell. No one wants to smell perfume (no matter how lovely) while eating. They're uncomplimentary scents, people. Anyway, once we kinda got used to the smell, we ordered an app:
We decided to try the corn dog lobster skewers:
The sauces and the batter were terrific, but the lobster was overcooked and tough. Not great.
Then we ordered entrees:
I got the "infamous" coffee and cacao beef tenderloin:
I always order my steak medium rare and not to judge anyone else on their choices, but if you order your steak ANY OTHER WAY you're wrong...sorry to break it to ya. The flavor was very good, but they overcooked my steak, which I don't like. However, I rarely send food back and it was still pretty tender, so definitely edible.
Aaron got the slow roasted pork ribs:
He loved the ribs, but almost choked when he tried the potatoes and they had cheese on them (Aaron HATES cheese). He wouldn't touch any of the veggies or potatoes after that and just ate the ribs.
The portions were smallish and the food was decent, but the prices were high as if this was some sort of gourmet restaurant, which I have to say, I don't think Costa Rica does gourmet restaurants. None of the expensive restaurants we've visited have been exceptional in their execution by a LONG shot, and we've tried a fair few. Overall, it was a nice meal, but very expensive for what we got (almost $90).
Tomorrow is a relaxing/packing/panicking day. All our leftover condiments, our super expensive coolers and extra toiletries will go to neighbors, Mike and Tamara. We will do laundry one last time, but we don't have to clean our apartment because the maid will do it once we leave ($30). Monday morning we will schlep our stuff and catch the bus to San Jose at 9am. Once in San Jose, we will take another bus to Alajuela and check into The Backpackers Hostel. After we put our bags down, we'll probably go back to San Jose and do some sightseeing. Aaron will hate this part, but I will love it. Tuesday we head to the airport, our plane leaves at 3:45pm. We then arrive in Lima, Peru at 8:25pm. Trust me, it doesn't get any more relaxing from there. Ugg, it starts...

You'll get to see macchu picchu so it will be worth the trekking.
