We have an amazing produce market a block from our house and they have everything you could ever want.
They have even more stuff inside. Love this place! After picking up some essentials, we had another antipasti platter for lunch/dinner (we're on a weird, late schedule where we sleep in late and stay up all night):
We tried another chimichurri sauce, but it was gross as well. The jarred sauces are not the business. Then we got ready and went for a drink (which turned into a few drinks, which turned into a few more). We passed a really cool candle shop along the way:
That one was bigger than my head!
We walked back to Serrano Plaza, but since it was a Monday night, it was pretty dead. We actually rather enjoyed having it all to ourselves. Side note: walking the streets around here can be pretty dangerous. Not because of crime or anything like that, but because everyone in Buenos Aires has a dog and NO ONE PICKS UP THE POOP! It's not a law here! Therefore, there's shit all over! You have to watch where you walk or else you're stepping in a pile. Also, the streets are all laid with tile and big stones, most of which are coming loose and slippery, so needless to say I've tripped more than a few times.
We started at a place called Sullivan's Pub:
Then we hopped around to a couple of the other bars and then ended up at Tazz.
We played pool awhile, but I was a little too tipsy to be of any use, so we met a few guys from California and Aaron played a few games with them, while I tried not to fall over. Check out the bathroom flusher! I've never used one of these before:
You pull that string and the toilet flushes. It took me a minute to figure it out, but this old noodle still works occasionally.
After Tazz closed, we hit up a 24 hour bar and got some more beer and food!
Then it was my bedtime (I think it was 4am), so I cabbed it home. Aaron stayed out and made friends with a couple Argentinians, Daniel and Marcelo. Marcelo actually came over for a bit today and he's the nicest guy! He works at a restaurant/bar in the plaza and invited us for a free dinner (I think we're going on Friday). He also said he would teach us Spanish and in return we can help him brush up on his English.
We're finally getting used to life in the big city and are even starting to make friends. Yipee!
Food looks amazing as usual.
