The Park

We live across the street from some beautiful parks and museums (like literally across the street).  We decided to picnic in the park today, so I made burgers and packed a bunch of snacks and off we went!
The first small patch of grass we saw had a really pretty shrine/plaque thing.  Front:

So pretty!  We walked a bit more and saw a giant statue (we can see this from our street):
Of course, we did the tourist thing:
We kept walking and saw the zoo!
We didn't pay to go inside (we'll definitely do that another day), but we still saw some horses:
We kept on walking and the city is just beautiful.  The juxtaposition of the city and the greenery reminds me of Golden Gate Park in the middle of San Francisco.  I'm sure having a peaceful grassy knoll in the center of the bustling, honking city is a haven for so many of the residents here.  The city itself reminds me of a cross between Paris and San Francisco.  I'll show you why:
These pictures really just can't capture the essence of the city, not to mention I take horrible pictures.  We passed a botanical garden (we will definitely go in one of these days):
Then we got to another small park and decided to sit here and have our picnic.  There were groups of men playing chess (I tried to take pictures, but didn't want to be that creeper, so they suck):
This is the park:
There were people sitting on benches, children playing, dogs running around and pigeons scrounging for scraps.  It was everything you'd imagine a park to be.  It was delightful.  Then we wandered around town, window shopping (I forgot to bring money..oops!).
We're in for a bit and back out again later for dinner.  Life in the city seems hectic, but Argentinians live an easy, breezy, cafe lifestyle.  There are cafes everywhere and they sit and chat and eat for hours.  They also take lots of breaks, since they're up so late at night.  It just seems like there's always something to do and see here, yet no one seems all that stressed about it.  Everyone's just going with the flow, which is something I could get used to.
