We couldn't wait to check out the zoo, so we figured no time like the present. It was $15/person and it was so much fun! Yes, we've seen animals in the wild, but this was awesome because you could buy a bucket of food and go around and feed the different animals.
I'm aware that this is controversial and probably not the best way to run a zoo, letting everyone feed the animals at their will, as it makes it impossible to keep track of who's eating and how much. However, it was super cool and the animals were into it, so whatever! There were also quite a few animals just roaming free, not in cages of any sort. There were rodents called Mara, beavers, ducks, peacocks and geese:
I've never been to a zoo like this before. I will say, most people were just throwing the food on the ground, but Aaron was feeling daring, so he fed most by hand (and since I didn't want to be left out, I did it too). Way too cool!
Let's go back to the entrance of the park. The architecture is amazing.

Let's go back to the entrance of the park. The architecture is amazing.
First stop: reptile house ( I didn't take too many snake pictures because we've seen them all already):
Anaconda:
Boa:
Lions:
White tigers:
Sun Bears (Oh my!):
Leopard:
Capybara, Aaron said they're the largest rodent in the world:
Elephant:
Adorable! Elephant selfie:
Aaron feeding a peacock (he was following us around):
Parrot:
Anteater:
At this point, we were hungry, so we stopped and got a quick bite here:
Behind the tables and chairs is a moat with ducks, beavers and giant koi, as well as monkey island:
Tapir (yup, that's his giant schlong):
We saw one of these sleeping in Corcovado. They are way endangered.
Bison:
Alpaca:
Keep following the path:
Goats:
Baboons:
Spider Monkey:
Random monkey:
Orangutan:
Chimps:
Condor Aviary:
Dino exhibit (ahh! It's eating me!):
Our guides:
We even fed giraffes:
The pygmy hippo was ready for some grub:
Big hippos napping:
Rhinos:
Emu:
Red panda:
Forgot what these are called (gazelle?), but they're in The Lion King:
More goats:
More architecture:
Aviary:
Eagle:
The eagle's best friend (no idea what it is):
Toucan:
Random bird:
I forgot what these large rodents are called:
Then it was back to the front. We made it!
Flamingos came to say goodbye:
We decided to walk a little further down the street and saw this neat statue in the middle of a roundabout:
We crossed the street and walked through the Jardin Japones:
It was a large park with a pretty pond. They had a random bust of Gandhi:
We saw the back of some sort of statue storage place, it looked like a statue graveyard:
This one reminded me of Ghostbusters (the one where the painting comes to life):
Creepy!
We got to the pond:
More random statues (they're all over):
Then we walked home. Here's Av Santa Fe, the main street near our house:
Great day today at the zoo! Now we're getting ready to have a night out on the town. I'll try to take pictures!
Red panda, never seen or heard of one! Awesome photos fun feeding animals. Like a petting zoo.
