Tonight was fancy, romantic dinner night and since people eat pretty late around here, we didn't even leave the house until 8:30pm. We walked 4 blocks to Don Julio's Parrilla (steakhouse) and put our names on the list.
Since they said it would be a half hour wait (the place was packed!), we walked a block to the local big supermarket called Disco.
Finally a place where they have it all! We were so excited!

Check out these giant potatoes:
Eww what's this:
lots of different, interesting meats:
OMG PEANUT BUTTER!
We didn't get the gray one in the middle, yikes!
Then it was 9pm and time to head back to the restaurant! Steak, here we come!
Don Julio's is a relatively fancy establishment with excellent service. Argentina is known for it's steak, and I LOVE a good steak, so I was hyped! I took pictures of everything and yes, the people at the table next to us thought I was bat-shit, but I could have cared less. Here's our table setting:
Aaron's ready:
They have an excellent wine selection, but we're not winos so we got Quilmes (beer):
Here's the steak menu:
I got the Bife de Chorizo ancho (thick sirloin steak) and Aaron got Brochette de lomo (tenderloin brochette). They even included a cool diagram, in case you need to know where on the cow your steak came from (I could've done without it):
They're making our steak!
They brought us bread with chimichurri sauce (green) and a type of pico de gallo (red), but better:
The chimichurri sauce was fantastic! I could eat that on anything! I need that in my life like a lot! Steakhouse selfie:
I'm not great at taking selfies, usually Aaron's the selfie pro, but oh well. My giant nose was smelling that our steak was ready! My sirloin:
Aaron's tenderloin skewers:
Both were excellent, like on the list of the top 5 steaks of my life. Both were juicy, flavorful and cooked to perfection. I usually like my steaks plain (maybe a little Worcestershire sauce), but this chimichurri was so good I almost bathed my steak in it. I'm a happy girl! Aaron was happy too.
We will be trying more parrillas in Argentina, that's for sure!
We plan on just relaxing tomorrow, so in case I don't blog I wanted to wish all the mothers out there a very Happy Mother's Day! Being a mom is by far the hardest, most under-appreciated job on Earth, but know that your kids will grow up one day and realize all the sacrifices you've made in life for them. I can never pay my mom back even a fraction of what she's given up for me and my brother, but I try to be a decent person and live my life to the fullest in her honor. Do something nice for your mom tomorrow and if you are a mom, just know someone out there appreciates you!
What a meal. That's the great part of travel. Even brisi didn't know what that stuff was. Reading Spanish.
