Running Errands

Today was more of just getting acclimated to our surroundings and picking up stuff we needed to survive the next couple months.  It's pretty cold here in the morning and at night, which is something we're not used to after the sweltering heat of Costa Rica, but Aaron is loving it.  I took a couple pictures of our "view."  This is from the living room:
Concrete jungle.  Not quite the jungle we had grown accustomed to.  The view from the bedroom is a little better:
We can see a bunch of other apartment buildings and a courtyard down below.

First stop when we went out today was to trade some money.  We have an exchange house right across the street from us:
The rate today was 11.8 (it's more if you have $50's or $100's, but we could only get $20's).  Still better than getting Pesos out of an ATM (exchange rate = 8.9) because we traded $500 and got the equivalent of $659 in Pesos.  Eat that, Argentina!

Next stop was a laundromat.  We bought detergent and everything, but it turns out the laundromat by our house is a place where you pay a lady to do your laundry for you.  You leave it with her and she takes care of the rest.  Pretty sweet!  Even better, for basically all the clothes we brought (about 2 tote bags full) it was only $8.

Then we bought a comforter for extra warmth on our bed and some warm clothes because the only top I have with sleeves is made of silk.  Not great for the freezing winter of Argentina.  We stopped at the grocery store again for some veggies (there are different stores for dairy, meat, produce and everything else.  So far we haven't found a meat or dairy store).  This is the local beer:
They have a few different kinds of Quilmes.  We plan on trying all of them.

Then it was off to get SIM cards for our phones:
This place was way more high-tech than the kiosks in Costa Rica and WAY WAY cheaper!  For a SIM card it was $1 and to get it activated and for minutes (you can use them as data or minutes, but minutes use up more than data) it was only $4!  In Costa Rica we paid $35 for what we paid $5 for here!  Crazy!  If we need more minutes, we can easily recharge for probably another $4.  No problema!

Then it was off to get pizza at a place across the street from the house.  When I say things are near our apartment, I mean they're NEAR our apartment.  I could walk to ANY of these places in about 2 minutes.  It's crazy how close and convenient everything is from us.  Our location is perfect.
Anyway, Kentucky Pizza is always packed and looks amazing, so we decided to get some pizza to go.  Menu:
Porciones (by the slice):

Here the guy is making our pizza:

Yum!  Let's go home and gobble this down!
I got a slice of Napolitana (cheese, tomato and ham):
I got another slice of espinaca (spinach) for later:
Aaron had to order a whole pizza because he gets no cheese, so they have to make it special for him.  He got calabresa (some sort of salami I think) they added tomato and olives just to be nice because they felt so sorry for his sad, cheese-less pizza.
The pizza was soooo yummy!  The flavors of the crust, the cheese and the sauce were all good.  They don't really have tons of topping because they just don't need it.  I think I even like this better than Pizza Pata in Costa Rica, and that's saying something.
We tried the Quilmes Cristal and it was delish:
It was slightly hoppy, but still really light.  Yummy!  Then we tried the Quilmes Lieber:
This one wasn't as good, tastes like a really light, watered-down lager.  Eww.
Now we're just hanging around the house.  More exploring tomorrow!
