This morning I woke up and realized I was subconsciously scratching my mosquito bites in my sleep.
Oops! Now my foot is completely swollen. Just what I need.

After I fit my foot into my sandal, I did a little solo shopping. Aaron wasn't into it, so I ventured out on my own. I found some interesting stuff:
WTF?? These were in every souvenir shop I went into. Is a penis bottle opener that popular that they need to be in EVERY store? Grow some class, Costa Rica!
I did find some nice stuff though. They have really top quality wood here.
I don't know why they're selling this, but it's samples of all the different types of wood. It's like selling swatches. I'm discovering more and more that people will pay for just about anything. Like this:
It's like a Buddha, but not. Why?? Along with all the junk, they did have some nice stuff:
This domino set would be beautiful (if I were like 80).
These wooden boxes were also really well made.
This is some sort of coffee maker, which I think is pretty awesome. I'd probably never use it because that would be a huge pain in the ass, but I'd display it somewhere.
I really liked these coasters...
and this creepy box with a dead butterfly. Look, this isn't my first rodeo. I know I'm in a tourist town in random stupid souvenir shops and all this crap is overpriced. Not to mention, Costa Rica isn't exactly known for amazing indigenous artwork or handmade crafts. I'm not going to spend $30 on random coasters I can get at Ross for $5. I know what I'm here for:
Yup, shot glasses. We collect them and so does my brother, so I got a couple. Don't get me wrong, I want to buy something beautiful from Costa Rica to keep in my house forever, but I'm not going to buy it in a tourist trap. You're not making a sucker out of me, Costa Rica! Yea, I'll probably end up going back and getting the coasters.
While I was shopping, Aaron booked us an excursion for Wednesday. We are doing a zipline canopy and then ATV-ing (I'm aware that's not a verb) to some waterfall. It should be super fun, if I don't end up dying (I'm very clumsy).
Then I met up with Aaron for lunch at Tacobar. They have the best fish tacos (and weirdly, it's the only taco place we've some across). I guess Mexican food isn't their thing. Don't get me wrong, I get that there's a difference between Costa Rica and Mexico (basically geography), but there is barely any Mexican food here. Is that only weird to me? I mean, there are 2 pizza places and like 5 Italian restaurants. Whatevs! I got a Mahi taco:
I got it with an herb sauce, which was delish! With your taco you also get free salad bar and when I hear free my ears perk up like a dog:
So yummy! They had garbanzo salad, broccoli and cauliflower salad, cole slaw, green bean salad and a few green salads (which I skipped, sorry mom I'm on vacation). The restaurant was pretty cool too, with swings on one side of the bar:
Then we walked a bit:
We even made a new friend:
Aaron made me do it! I swear!
Then we hit the grocery store for a few last minute things. America take note:
Their little hand basket things come with a retractable handle in case you want to roll it! How awesome is that?
Then we went home and I made beans again:
I did them exactly the same as the black beans and they came out perfect!
Aaron went to the beach to watch the sunset:
At our favorite bar, he even caught a frog:
He said it peed all over him! Eww!
Now, I'm just trying not to claw my skin off (yes, I have bug bite cream and Aloe Vera). Wishing everyone a good night from Costa Rica!
P.S. They don't practice Daylight Savings Time here, so now we're only 1 hour ahead of you guys back in Cali.
You know you bought one of those bottle openers. Swings at a restaurant seems like a cool idea. Keep it up like keeping up with the adventure.
