So, I've spoken before about this bar attached to a hostel called Casa Gracia. It's down the street from our apartment and the restaurant serves amazing food. Last time we went, Aaron had beef cheeks:
and I had pork with apple puree and pickled vegetables:
Fantastic! Tonight, we went to the bar:
which is an equally amazing place with cocktails that blew my mind. Let's get our swerve on (or whatever dumb thing the kids are saying these days).
First things first, I took pictures of the menu:
Aaron's first drink was the Old Gracia:
David, the bartender was like a magician.
This is the smoke machine:
Inside the leaf is a piece of bacon that is supposed to be eaten with the drink. It was an incredible experience. You take a tiny bite of bacon, breathe in the smoke and sip. Wow.
My drink was The Arrow:
I didn't get any pictures of him making it, but it was the best cocktail I've ever had. It was citrus-y and bubbly and sweet with a hint of vanilla and some herbs. OMG.
Next cocktail for me was Le Monsieur:
Also delicious. Kind of lemon-y, less sweet with a hint of some sort of herb again. He put egg white for frothy-ness, which did nothing for the flavor, but was wonderful texture.
Aaron's second cocktail was The Queen Bloody Maria:
Didn't taste like a Bloody Mary, but had a strong tomato flavor and very savory. It tasted kind of like a cold soup, in a good way. It was so different, but really yummy.
Outside, they have cool rope lights and I had to take a weird picture on the staircase:
Looking up:
The bathroom looked exactly like The Ministry of Magic:
That's the door and wall while I was sitting on the toilet. I think they legit filmed Harry Potter in this stall.
Outside the bathroom:
The donkey is where you wash your hands:
Super neat place! The drinks, food, decor and people are all so great. This is a place I would recommend for anyone staying in Gracia. I'm not gonna say it's the cheapest place ever, but for the quality you're getting it's so worth it. Some places charge $10 for a vodka tonic, here you can get a smoke-infused work of art. Quite an experience.
A Bloody Maria is made with tequila, so of course it doesn't taste like a Bloody Mary silly girl!!
ReplyDeleteAww that makes sense. I'm not a Bloody Mary person, so I wouldn't know.
