Sorry to leave everyone in the lurch the past couple days, but I've been feeling majorly crappy. I went back to Hospital Aleman twice (for a total of three times) and each time a different doctor gave me a conflicting diagnosis. What I mistook for efficiency is really just shitty health care. They really try to get you in and out without so much as laying a hand on you. Yes, I know I'm in South America, but I'm supposedly in "The Paris" of South America, so is a decent doctor too much to ask for??? I was fed up, not to mention getting worse, so I needed help fast. I emailed the consulate and asked for a recommendation and got recommendations for every specialty, which was great! I picked an ear, nose and throat doctor and made an appointment. We saw Dr. Lacour today and let me tell you, I've never been so happy to be poked and prodded in my life! He put weird drops in my nose and probed every orifice on my face. It was lovely.
Diagnosis: I have a viral infection that's getting serious because it's basically been left untreated for 3 weeks. It's supposedly not super uncommon, but the fact it's gotten so bad is. I'm on a week of antibiotics:
I go back for another check-up on Tuesday. Dr. Lacour, you are my hero!
I also have to shout-out to Aaron, who's been taking such good care of me, waiting on me hand and foot, while I moan on my deathbed (I can be kind of dramatic).
Jurassic World came out today, and we had been planning on seeing it for weeks, so nothing was going to keep me down today!
It was pretty great. It definitely made me nostalgic for Jurassic Park (which is on Netflix!), but it was really a sign of how far technology has come. Jurassic World is like outer space compared to Jurassic Park, but I'm old-fashioned and I grew up with Jurassic Park, so you can't beat the original for me. Overall, really fun flick, although I can't believe how sexist it is that they made the girl wear 5 inch heels and a skirt WHILE RUNNING IN THE JUNGLE THE ENTIRE MOVIE! PIGS! Also, Andy's pants were so tight, I can't imagine that's comfortable (and yes, no matter how skinny he gets and how much make-up they plaster on his face, he will always be Andy from Parks and Rec to me!). Aside from my personal qualms, I have to say it was an enjoyable experience and I highly recommend seeing it.
Back to laying on the couch for me, until I'm all better.
