We finally made it to the Sunday feria in San Telmo and it was so much fun.
They had a few different street performers:
Time to shop!
Money from around the world:
That says 5 billion dollars!
I love old phones!
The art street:
My absolute favorite artist so far:
Don Julio's by our house!
If we were flying home from here, I would definitely get one of these. Totally captures the essence of BA.
A guy walks around selling mate tea (the special tea you drink out of those cups with straws):
Old photos:
Evita:
There are a million things I would have bought if we lived here, but there's really no point in buying teacups or an old timey phone because it would be so expensive to ship home. We ended up just window shopping, which is still fun. After we walked for awhile, we were famished, so we ended up stopping at Origen Cafe:
They brought us bread with a bean dip and veggie soup shots (yes, this is one of those healthy, hippy restaurants):
I ordered a salad with brie, pumpkin, zucchini and eggplant:
Aaron got fries and a burrito with chicken, eggplant, zucchini, onions and carrots:
After nourishing ourselves, we kept walking the neighborhood, which is beautiful, and we saw this gorgeous church:
Across the street, they were having a huge BBQ:
We also walked by the Museum of Contemporary Art:
But we didn't go in, as trying to understand art makes me exhausted.
Aaron got some cotton candy bigger than his head:
Saw some interesting shops:
This gnome store was priceless!
It was the perfect mix of adorable and crazy.
We ended up going to a cheesy zombie museum:
They had some really impressive recreations of movie makeups and random zombie makeups:
They also had a really weird alien exhibit:
It was creepy and wacky and cheesy, but fun.
Then we headed home.
Today, I went back to Hospital Aleman because my symptoms have slowly crept back up and I'm having some trouble breathing again. The doctor said the viral infection I had is affecting my breathing, which can happen in people with asthma (he didn't speak good English, so it was hard to understand exactly what he was explaining). He prescribed me a special inhaler, and if I'm not feeling better by Friday, I go back for tests. Not the best feeling ever, but I'm optimistic. This puts a huge wrench in our trip plans to Patagonia, which we have pushed back a couple different times already. We don't want to go until I'm all better, so we will wait.
Aaron took me out to dinner at a restaurant called T-bone:
Aaron got spaghetti with chicken, tomatoes and olives:
I had cashew-crusted chicken with a sweet sauce and a stir-fry of veggies:
Delicious!
I'll probably be taking it easy for the next couple days while I recover, but we're hoping to plan a small trip to Uruguay because it's super close, so I'll keep you posted!
Go to Montevideo feel better
