We went back to Dr. Lacour today and he said I'm about 60% recovered. He tweaked my meds a bit and said in 4-5 days I should be right as rain. Yipee! I can't wait to feel like a normal person again.
On the way home, we tried a restaurant I've been wanting to try for awhile called Oviedo.
On the way home, we tried a restaurant I've been wanting to try for awhile called Oviedo.
They brought us an amuse bouche of some kind of cured ham and peppers on toast...tasty!
and some homemade cracker breads and a yummy tomato based sauce:
Here's the menu (in English!):
For starters, we ordered a rabbit with coleslaw. Neither of us had ever tried rabbit, so we were a little apprehensive.
Thumper, you were delicious! It tasted a lot like chicken, maybe a tiny bit denser (if that makes any sense), but that might be in my head. For all I know, it could have just been chicken they call rabbit in order to charge $16.
For our entree, we shared the haunch of wild boar with white cornflower and gratined peppers. They separated it for us on two plates and this is what my plate looked like:
The green blob was broccoli rabe, the white blob was the white cornflower (kinda like a thick mashed potato, but weirder), the orange blob was the pepper (incredible) and the big brown blob was the wild boar with a mushroom sauce (WOW).
We'd never had wild boar before, it was like a tender pot roast, maybe a tiny bit more game-y and really good!
Oviedo was one of those fancy restaurants with smallish portions at exorbitant prices, but the food was done well, so I wasn't disappointed. And in case you were wondering, Aaron wore his squirrel sweatpants. Sigh.
Now we're back home for more R&R. Planning a day trip to Uruguay for Thursday, since the maid is coming and we have to be out of the house anyway. However, it all depends on how I'm feeling. I'll keep you updated.
Nom Nom good news
