I went up to Seattle (May18-24) to visit my family (aunt, uncle, cousin and grandma) and it was a super fun trip. I was mostly there to spend time with my grandma, who hasn't been doing all that great lately, but we ended up doing a lot of other fun stuff as well.
I didn't take too many pictures, because I was mostly helping my grandma and keeping her company, but while she rested we made the most of our time. Here's just a random pile of pics from my trip.
I didn't do too much sightseeing because I've been going to Seattle all my life and I've seen it all before. Sorry, I wasn't in sightseeing mode!
I'm a hardcore thrift shopper, I don't do it all that often, but I love it! Lucky for me, my aunt and cousin are totally into it also. And they got some GOOD Goodwills in Seattle:
This was the ultra cheap Goodwill outlet, which is pretty hardcore (you pay per pound, not per item). If you're not an experienced thrifter, this is not the place to start. There are bins and bins filled to the brim and you really gotta dig deep to find the good stuff. I got a cute pair of dark blue suede ankle boots for $1.90. Whoop whoop! Talk about Goodwill hunting (ba dum tsss)!

Food:
Ivar's (a Seattle staple):
I got to tag along on an amazing Asian food tour my aunt was a part of. We started in Little Saigon at an Asian grocery store and the guide explained all the different foods we were seeing, which wasn't that eye-opening for me because I've seen it all before, but it was still really neat to see everyone else's reaction.
We got to try some fruit (fresh and dried-salted) and these yummy almond cookies:
Then a tofu bar where we had spicy tofu and fresh, warm soy milk:
Later my aunt and I came back for the ban mi (Vietnamese sandwiches):
Then lunch in a Vietnamese restaurant (some of the best Vietnamese food I've ever had):
Wonton soup:
bun cha:
Wow!
Then we walked to Chinatown and tried some dim sum.
Shrimp dumpling:
BBQ pork pastry:
I love me some dim sum and this was delicious!
Then we went to a BBQ pork place:
I also love me some BBQ pork.
Last stop was a bakery where we got fresh-from-the-oven coconut buns:
It's a sweet bread (not unlike a Hawaiian sweet roll) filled with a buttery, sweet coconut mixture.
To die for!!
I ate so much I wanted to bust, but it was so worth it! Thanks again Taylor for the amazing tour!
On Sunday, we went to an outdoor market my aunt sells at:
I got a toasted coconut bar:
So good, but it was fricken $4! You must be joking! I was done trying the food at that point.
Let's shop!
Interesting plant:
These smelled amazing!
That's pretty much it! Seattle is an awesome place and I highly recommend it for a vacation, especially in the summer when it's absolutely beautiful weather. Sorry I didn't take more pictures!
Stay tuned for Alaska! Coming your way very soon!
