Happy Belated Mother's Day!

Just wanted to give a special shout-out to all the fantastic mothers out there in the world!  Sorry this is so late, my computer was on the fritz (again!!!), but better late than not at all, right??

Extra special thank you to my momma for being the sun we all orbit around.

Also called to wish my grandma a Happy Mother's Day:
She just turned 88 and is looking great!  She's had her ups and downs lately, but seems to be on an upswing at the moment.  I'm on my way up to Seattle in a week to see her!

I tried to copy a Pinterest picture in decorating a cake I baked (always a mistake) and it was hilarious, so I just had to share my embarrassment.
Here's the picture I was emulating:
Gorgeous, right?
I made a red velvet cake (settle down, it was a box mix), but the raspberries we had were frozen and thawed out all mushy, so I had to use blueberries instead.......and this is what happened:
Yea, I added some mush raspberries at the last minute, which was a huge mistake because they leaked all over the cake in a matter of minutes:
I was blotting it with a paper towel constantly.
So yea, that's what I get for attempting a Pinterest design.  Don't get me wrong, they have awesome ideas, but when you try to copy a design exactly it never seems to go well (at least not for me).  I even did a split screen, so you could see both simultaneously:
Because we really needed that, huh?  Split screens make everything more obvious in a bad way, don't they?
I tried to make up for the cake by making a banner and hanging it in our kitchen:
Suck on that, Pinterest.
I also got her this cutting board:
It was meant to be used, but she decided to hang it as decoration (she needs more decorations like a hole in the head).  My brother, on the other hand, got her a brand new TV!  So, to recap: I got her a $5 cutting board (I had a Groupon) and he got her a $1,000 giant TV.  Yea, I'm not scoring any bonus points here (although she really did like the cutting board, which follows what I ALWAYS SAY: people automatically like stuff more when it has their name on it.  It's a proven fact, people!).

Other than that, we just made food and hung around, which was nice.  Her birthday is on the 17th, so we always have to hold back a little, so we don't get her too spoiled and have nothing to back it up for the second holiday (similar to people who's birthdays are near Christmas).  Hey, I didn't make the rules, I'm just trying to get by over here.

In other news, Aaron is still in Alaska, working his butt off.  He still sends me pictures of the sunrise:
Okay, he was a little late on the last one.  It's just beautiful up there.

So far he's seen 2 moose on his way to work:
So cool!

Here's the machine they're working on:
No idea.  I feel like Ariel in The Little Mermaid, when she collected all that human stuff and just made up names for everything.  That's what I want to do when he sends me work pictures.  That there in the blue is a thingymabob and the tube right next to it is a dinglehopper.

In other news:
I went to a high school talent show, to watch Aaron's sister, Timara, perform a song (she did so great!):
She's in the middle.  I was surprised how talented kids in high school can be.  There were singers, dancers, instrument players and lip syncers (I didn't know that was a talent, but whatev) and it was super fun!

Baby picture time!!!
My nephew, Max, wore the Greek shirt I got him (it's a size 2 and he's only 9 months old and it barely fits):
My other nephew, Ronan, wore the awesome onesie I got him:
He loves me already!
And Theo is as awesome as ever:
Drinking out of mommie's moscow mule cup (it's water, people).

Dog picture alert!!
Hiking:
Playing:
Capone always goes for the throat, way vicious, man.  Watching or hearing them play, you'd think they're trying to murder each other, but that's just how they roll.  It looks like a murder scene, but they both end up unscathed somehow.

This is how I wake up every morning:
They sleep on the floor, but in the morning they make their way up to the bed to snuggle.
Hanging with Auntie Teresa:
and with the grandparents:
and in their new ugly Christmas sweaters (another Groupon (I'm talking like $3!)):
Yes, I'm aware I'm about 7 months too early, but you're never to early to buy something on sale!

Lastly, check this crap out!
I saw it on Groupon (I think I have a problem) and it's a butt lifter!  Crazy!  Needless to say, I know what my mom's getting for her birthday (wink).

Alrighty then, I hope everyone had a lovely Mother's Day!  Hurry up and get your butt lifter while supplies last!
